The European Gaming and Betting Association has further strengthened its representation and cooperation of European online gambling operators, after Flutter Entertainment joined-up.
The firm, which recently posted revenue for the six months ending june 30, 2021, of £3.05bn (2020: $2.38bn), aligns with the EGBA in a commitment to and promotion of greater industry responsibility in Europe’s digital sector.
The Brussels-based trade association represents online gaming and betting operators established, licensed, and regulated within the EU, including bet365, Betsson Group, Entain, Flutter, Kindred Group, and William Hill.
“We are very pleased that Flutter has joined the EGBA family and welcome its commitment towards our ideals of sustainability and fostering a stronger culture of safer gambling in Europe,” explained Maarten Haijer, secretary general of the EGBA.
“Flutter is a leading player in our sector, and its membership will enable us to strengthen our existing efforts to encourage and deepen industry cooperation and participation at European level.
“It’s the collective ambition of our members to be top of the class in terms of industry responsibility and Flutter’s membership strengthens our commitment and position.
“We are determined to ensure Europe’s online gambling sector is more united and coordinated in its objectives and responsibilities, and we continue to invite Europe’s other reputable online gambling companies to join us in this mission.”
Earlier this week, Flutter Entertainment disclosed a new policy which will see the introduction of a spending backstop of £500 per month for all customers under the age of 25.
This will be implemented for all customers across the Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Betting & Gaming brands in the UK and in Ireland, as the operator looks to “further enhance protections for younger customers and encourage sensible spending across its platforms”.
